Swagelining’s LinerVent™ removes the risk of liner collapse due to annular gas accumulation. The technology allows the realisation of all the benefits of polymer lining for hydrocarbon service.
When multiphase fluids are operated under high pressure, gas permeation through the polymer liner can lead to gas accumulation within the annulus between the polymer liner and host steel pipeline.
In applications with high gas content, liner collapse due to annular gas accumulation can be prevented by using LinerVent™. The LinerVent™, which is installed within the polymer liner, includes a sintered metallic frit which only allows limited flow of small molecular species, preferentially gas rather than liquid, between the pipeline bore and the annulus. This ensures that the entrapped volume is always lower than the critical collapse volume.
LinerVent™ ensures that that gases only accumulate to a small volume before being naturally vented back through the frit into the bore, due to small naturally oscillating gas pressure differentials.
